1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. KidPause is designed for parents and guardians to manage their children's screen time. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child whose device usage is managed through the Service.
2. Description of Service
KidPause is a parental screen time control app that helps parents manage their children's device usage. KidPause provides the following features:
Start Session: Launch a screen time session with app selection and customizable timers to define how long your child can use specific apps.
Pause Now: Instantly pause your child's device with PIN protection, ensuring only parents can resume access.
Recurring Schedules: Set up recurring screen time schedules (e.g., homework hours, bedtime) that automatically restrict app usage at designated times.
Auto-Block via Apple Shortcuts: Integrate with Apple Shortcuts to automatically block apps and enforce screen time rules based on triggers and automations.
Session Analytics: View detailed reports on your child's screen time usage, including session history, app usage breakdowns, and trends over time.
Apple Watch Companion App: Control and monitor your child's screen time sessions directly from your Apple Watch for quick, on-the-go management.
3. Account Registration
To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. When creating an account, you agree to:
Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials.
Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or use of your account.
Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that have been inactive for an extended period.
4. Permitted Use and Restrictions
The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. You agree not to:
Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems.
Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access or interact with the Service.
Transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code through the Service.
Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without written permission.
5. Subscription and Pricing
KidPause offers both free and premium subscription tiers:
Free Tier: Access to core features including basic session management, a limited number of schedules, and standard analytics.
KidPause Premium: Unlimited schedules, advanced session analytics, Apple Watch companion app, Auto-Block via Apple Shortcuts, and priority access to new features.
Premium subscriptions are available on a monthly or yearly basis and are auto-renewable. Key subscription terms:
Payment is charged to your Apple App Store account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
You can manage and cancel your subscription through your device's App Store settings.
No refunds are provided for partial billing periods upon cancellation. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice. Price changes will not affect your current billing period.
6. App Store Terms
The Service is available for download on the following platform:
Apple App Store (iOS and watchOS)
Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and conditions of the Apple App Store. In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through the App Store's payment system. Any billing disputes should be directed to Apple.
7. User Content and Data
You retain ownership of all screen time data and content you submit through the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the data you enter. We do not verify the accuracy of screen time data entered by users and are not liable for any errors or discrepancies in your records.
8. Screen Time Features Disclaimer
KidPause's screen time management features rely on Apple's ScreenTime and Shortcuts APIs to enforce restrictions and automate controls. Please note:
Screen time enforcement depends on Apple's ScreenTime API availability and behavior. Changes to iOS or these APIs by Apple may affect KidPause's functionality.
Auto-Block features rely on Apple Shortcuts integrations, which may have limitations or require specific device configurations.
KidPause is a tool to assist parents in managing screen time and is not a substitute for direct parental supervision.
We cannot guarantee that all apps or device functions will be successfully blocked or restricted in every scenario.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, features, code, content, trademarks, and the "KidPause" brand, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal purposes in accordance with these Terms.
No rights or licenses are granted to you by implication or otherwise, except for the limited rights expressly set forth in these Terms.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.
We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
We are not responsible for any loss of data or damages resulting from reliance on screen time controls, including situations where app restrictions fail to activate or deactivate as expected.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
11. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon account deletion:
Your personal data and screen time records will be permanently deleted within 72 hours.
All active screen time schedules and restrictions managed by KidPause will be removed from linked devices.
Any active premium subscription should be cancelled separately through your App Store settings to avoid continued billing.
Account deletion is irreversible and all data will be permanently lost.
12. Dispute Resolution
In the event of any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service, the parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within 30 days, either party may pursue binding arbitration in accordance with applicable laws.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you through the Service or via email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
